Mini Home Decor/Photo Prop Haul...

Happy Sunday everyone… Really? Happy and Sunday in the same sentence? Okay you got me, there’s nothing really happy about it since tomorrow is Monday *cry*! BUT it does mean a blog post or you guys, so that kinda makes it a bit better right?

So nearby to where I live, we are fortunate enough to have a road of about half a mile maybe a bit longer of; garden centres, stables, a pub, pet shops, cafés, antiques and just a few home shops.
A few of them im signed up to their membership card, so I automatically get sent emails of any offers or special events taking place. Typically, they all have sales on after Christmas, but in my mind, sales after Christmas are just as bad as shopping before Christmas! Anyone else feel this way, or am I one of the only few who hate shopping when its suuuper busy? Anyway, last weekend I got sent an email by one of the garden centres to say it was the last weekend of their sale and prices were slashed up to 80% on certain items!! With a deal that great I couldn’t resist and so last Saturday I headed off to the garden centre.
I got a few bits before Christmas in this particular shop, so I knew it was bound to have something that caught my eye. As a bonus for me, luckily it wasn’t busy at all! I didn’t go overboard with the spending; (they didn’t have heaps left to be fair), but I did get some little bits and bobs I thought id share with you all. Most of the items I picked up, I had in mind that they would make great props for blog photographs. Without further ado lets gets started…

STRAWS
Okay so let’s start with something unrelated to décor. If any of you saw my last home haul post before Christmas, “HERE” then you see that I brought some really cute drinking jars from Home Bargains, unfortunately they didn’t come with straws so when I saw these ones in the sale I couldn’t resist! Original price was £4.99 for a pack of 24 (which I wouldn’t have paid), but they were marked up 70% cheaper, so only cost me £1.49 per pack! You know youre getting older when you look forward to the summer, just so you can use your pretty straws!!

CALENDAR
I don’t actually have a calendar that I hang on my wall. I don’t really like them that much and usually just stick to using my diary. I’ve been thinking about getting one of these calendars for a while, but have always told myself that I don’t really need one enough to pay the price they usually are. That and the fact that ive not really seen one ive instantly thought “oh that’s cute”! So when I saw this one and my first reaction was “cute” and I then saw the 50% off sticker on it, it went straight into my basket. Was £9.99 but I only paid £4.99.

CANDLE
Next up is this candle. Yes I know the quote on it is Christmas related, but I thought because of its neutral colour I could get away with using it throughout the year? Its RRP was £2.99, but with 50% off brought it to £1.49 and I thought why not?

ARTIFICIAL FLOWER IN POT
Again this is something ive been thinking about for a while. But never really knowng how “fake” theyd look in photos I never really purchased one before. Like the straws it was marked up at £4.99 which again I wouldn’t have brought, but with a 70% sticker on it, made the final price £1.49 so in the basket it went. What do you think of artificial flowers? Think they are a bit like marmite, hate or love? Although in all honesty im just undecided!

OWL ORNAMANT
This little guy caught my eye and thres just something about him that I instantly thought was cute. He didn’t have a sale sticker on him so was priced at £4.99. but it turned out he was in the sale for half price so I only paid £2.49 for him! Bonus!

GLASS GOBLETS
Originally marked up at £1.99 each which I think is resonalbe anyway, these glasses were also 50% off bringing them to just 99p a glass. I only ended up getting two of them and in all honesty I haven’t decided what I want to do with them yet. I thought they would look nice with a tea light in them perhaps, or even mulled wine around Christmas time? Surprisingly for their price they are good quality; think and quite heavy. Thinking about it now, if I do use them for mulled wine maybe I should go back in the hope they still have them and get some more? Sale or no sale im happy either way.

OWL TRINKET
Starting to think I have a thing for owls at the moment? Or maybe just woodland animals in general as im really liking stags too?! Anyway… So again this was something that instantly screamed “buy me im cute”! Into the basket he went and again no sale sticker on him, but he ended up being half price too! RRP: £5.99 sale price: £2.99! Love him :)

That’s it im afraid! So in total, my bill should have come to £42.91 but with all the discounts, I only ended up paying £16.92!! So all in all im pretty impressed with my little shopping trip. Im obsessed with home décor and when I started typing this post I straight away opened up another tab and had a look at Wilko’s site which im thinking next payday I may have to make a purchase!

Whats your favourite type of shop? Have a great evening and as always, thanks for passing by…

Love Hannah xx

  1. Such a lovely idea for a post. I love an artificial flower pot the most as they always look so nice in blog photos. My favourite shop for props is garden centres/diy stores as there's so much stuff you can make or buy ready :)

  2. That's really impressive, I can completely understand that you couldn't resist! I love the straws and the owl trinket, it's so cute. And I don't like shopping when it's super busy, either, I went shopping on Black Friday and got amazing deals but it was really stressful haha. My favourite shops (apart from clothing shops) are DIY stores like Typo and tea shops. :) x
