Life Update | Summer 2017 | New Job

If you're a regular reader of mine, you'll know that every now and then when I have a month or two away from the blog, I like to write a brief life update. As I mention in all of these posts; it's not only to keep you in the loop as to what I've been up to, but it's nice for me to look back on and have a read (a bit like a diary). So this evening, I've finally decided to sit down and get this post together.
Back in April I was offered a job I was really excited about. I accepted the job after a two day trial and handed in my notice at my then, current job at the pet shop. A few days later I spotted a job advert that caught my eye. Same job role but within a different industry and a lot closer to home. I decided to send them over an email; explained my situation about my new job offer in a similar role and that I was keen to find out more about their company. The guy got back to me the next day, we had a chat over the phone and we agreed for me to go in the following afternoon. I went to meet him to find out a little bit more, meet the staff and take a look at the place of work. After a couple of hours I was driving back home with a new job offer! I now had the task of choosing between the two.
A gut feeling was pulling me more towards one place and with my pros and cons list clarifying things up for me; I accepted the job at the second place and had to unfortunately contact the first to let them know I wasn't going to be working for them.

In the space of two weeks, I went from working part time in a pet shop with no hopes of another job anytime soon.. To two job offers, both doing something I was keen to get into and then landing myself a good full time job. It all happened really quickly and I'm still a little shocked by the whole thing even now!

I don't really know what my job title is to be honest. Where I am now, the position was advertised as an: online sales executive, but it's a bit of a mixture. The company is an online retail store, but is also a wholesaler to many different small online shops. I deal with all orders that come through our numerous selling platforms: acknowledging orders, printing endless delivery notes, postage labels and marking items as dispatched once it's all done. Dealing with customer orders/queries over the phone or via email. I get to try and improve my photography by taking stock photos for new deals. Look for new stock to buy in; whether that be similar stock at a lower price, or brand new stock to see if it works for us. Manage all social media platforms, (something I have not stated to tackle just yet). And finally; we have just found ourselves a web developer and it is my job to work with him to completely redesign the old site from top to bottom. It's only a few days in and already I can tell it's going to be a long process! I have the final say on how the site is going to look and I am being really fussy about it *poor guy*!

Even though my morning routine is the same everyday when it comes to dealing with all the online orders and printing etc. the time flies by and come 1pm I'm done and go for lunch. The afternoons are when I can really sit down and do all of the rest mentioned above and that all changes from day to day. I'm enjoying it and know I made the right choice out of the two. I'm doing a 20 mile round trip and it currently takes me 35-45 minutes in the morning to get to work and around 25-35 minutes to get home in the evenings. If I had gone for the other place, I was looking at a 60 mile round trip and the time was more than double what I'm doing at the moment. Not to mention it worked out to be around £140 more on petrol each month!

So now I've bored anyone reading this half to death with my job update, what else have I been up to? Not a whole lot to be honest...

The past week and a bit I have binge watched the whole of the Harry Potter films! That is my excuse for not writing this sooner you see. I've been distracted with magic!
I hadn't seen the last four and hadn't seen the first ones in years so decided to start from scratch. I'm gutted I have no more to watch :( I really enjoyed them, more than I thought. When you watch them after another so close together from the last, it's amazing how much the films improve. Not just the acting, but the special effects too. They go from budget and really basic, to high quality and realistic. The only thing I was a little disappointed with was the ending. Obviously I'm not going to spoil it in case there's anyone who hasn't seen them yet, but I was really hoping for a bit more at the end and felt it was rushed. I still feel I need answers to certain things? Can anyone relate?
Since I had Potter withdrawals, I decided to watch Fantastic Beasts last night and unfortunately, wasn't too impressed.

I've also started watching 13 Reasons Why, which a few weeks back I saw mentioned on everyones tweets; so I thought I'd see what it's all about. I'm only on the third episode so far and it's pretty good. Considering I don't usually get hooked until a few episodes in, I'm enjoying it.

What else have I been doing? Hmm... Not a whole lot to be completely honest. The weather has been lovely for once over here in the UK, so when I haven't been working or watching TV, I've been trying to get as much vitamin D as possible.

Ahh something exciting I have done in the past month, is attend a Starbuck event! The lovely Nadia from Miel and Mint, kindly invited me along as her plus one. It was so lovely to finally meet Nadia in person after talking for over a year. She is a total babe and if for some unknown reason you don't know her already, be sure to go and check her out!
Although we didn't have much time beforehand, we had a brief catch up before heading to the venue in Shorditch. It was such a strange event involving balls, spinning room, fluffy walls, food and of course coffee, but one of the best I've been to.
I am currently in countdown mode for this weekend. Terry and I are heading to Alacati in Turkey for just under two weeks and I am so excited for a nice holiday! Really hoping it'll help change our mind about Turkey too. We've been to Marmaris and Bodrum and was not too keen to be honest. We know there are some lovely places in the country, but because of our unsuccessful trips in the past, we've been put off. Mind you, those holidays were when we first started going away. We know to look at the area before booking now which is something we didn't really do before.

So, expect to see some holiday posts when we are back and a whole load of spam on my Instagram during our trip. Little self promo, if you're not already following me on Instagram or Snapchat and want to keep track on what we get up to on holiday, click here and here.

I'm going to leave it there for this post, I think it's pretty long already and I don't want to bore you too much ;)
But please do let me know how you've been? What have you been up to? Enjoying the sun? I'd also love to know if you're going away this year, or maybe you've been already? Let me know in the comments.

Love Hannah xx

Don't forget to follow me on..
