£5 Charity Shop Challenge | #FiverCharityChallenge

I'm so excited for this post! Last week I contacted Sophie from Sopherina.co.uk and asked if she would be interested in taking part in a collab post. Sophie agreed and well here we are :)

We both agreed to spend just £5 in our local charity shop/s, to see what amazing bargains we could find. You'll be surprised what great things you can pick up from charity shops these days. Some people honestly throw out the best stuff! After you've seen what we got, why not try the challenge for yourself? Either alone, or find a fellow blogger who is interested to collab with you? It's a great way to help those in need by giving to a great cause and a chance for you to work with another blogger!
I have a few charity shops in my area and when I pass by any, (if I've got time) I try to make the effort to pop in and see what goodies they might have in stock. You'll be surprised what people donate and the saying; "one mans junk is another mans treasure", is definitely the case in charity or secondhand shops. The best times are when you manage to find a brand new gift box set thats never been opened or used. Or a piece of clothing, still with it's tags on, for over half off the original price. The possibilities are endless. Like I mentioned at the start, you're also helping out a great cause when buying from a charity shop. Each shop supports something different and when you spend your money in there, you're helping them get one step closer to a cure for a horrid disease, helping to save an animals life, or helping one find a forever home.

I ended up looking in three local shops in the end, before finally finding all my items in the third and final shop. After the first two I was starting to feel a little worried I wasn't going to be able to find anything, but when I went into the third; I was really happy to find the few bits I did.
The charity shop where my purchases were from, was the RSPCA.
Admittedly, I spent over the £5 budget. The total came to £8, but I managed to get some money off and so I ended up spending £6 instead. Although, I think you'll agree that I got some pretty good bargains?..

So first up is this short kimono that caught my eye. This little number cost just £1! Please ignore what I'm wearing, I know it doesn't match, I was lazing around and couldn't be bothered to change!.. *hides face* just focus on the gorgeous print!
Next up are these great storage baskets. I got not one, not two, but three of them for £3!! Yup that's £1 each. Not 100% sure on the current colour, but a coat of paint on these and it'll bring them right back to life. Yeah that'll be a blogpost right there :)
And finally I picked up this gift set by Baylis and Harding. Never been used, never been opened. Annnd it's Christmas themed so how the hell could I not eah?! Definitely looking forward to opening this one up and giving them a try. All I know for sure at the moment, is they smell so good!
Don't forget to pop on over and see how Sophie got on with her shop guys. You can click right here to be taken to her post. If you haven't already seen her blog, you don't know what you're missing :)
You can also follow her on Twitter and Instagram.
Do you ever go into charity shops? What's been your best find from one? If you have never been in one before, will you give them a try after reading our posts?

It would be great if you did this challenge for yourself! I would love to see your post, so please do tag me on Twitter or comment below. Thanks to a Twitter poll, I now have a unique # to use when you do the challenge: #FiverCharityChallenge

  2. Such a fab idea for a post and a challenge babe and that kimono is gorgeous; what a stunningly cute print! Looks so dreamy on you and for £1, that's amazing value! It's so lovely you found some amazing buys and at such low prices too. That gift set looks totally divine. I don't often venture into charity shops unless it's with my mum as she's obsessed with them, but then I like getting books and I definitely agree that people chuck out some real treasures sometimes :)

  3. What an amazing idea for a challenge! You're absolutely right, charity shops can hold amazing treasures. One of my friends recently moved flats and she got a full set of cutlery for only 6 Euros and a rug for 5. The Christmas set looks amazing and so does the kimono! xx
